Mocha Beans Cross Street 1997
The Beginning Cathal and Fionnuala Keogh open Mocha Beans on Cross Street, the West of Ireland's very first espresso-style café. Starting with a small handheld roaster, coffee roasting comes to Galway for the first time.
Early 2000s
Mocha Beans Salthill
Salthill and Beyond Word spreads fast. A second location opens in Salthill as Galway embraces the craft coffee culture Mocha Beans introduced. The roastery grows to meet demand.
2005
Mocha Beans 2005
First Recognition Mocha Beans wins its first Blas na hÉireann award, Ireland's most prestigious food and drink accolade. Quality recognised at a national level for the first time.
2010
Roasting for Ireland The roasting operation expands significantly. Mocha Beans begins supplying coffee wholesale to restaurants, hotels, and offices across Connacht, bringing Galway-roasted coffee to the wider island.
2015

A Fantastic Team A decade and a half in, the team has grown alongside the brand. New cafés open across the city. The culture of craft, quality, and community that started on Cross Street now shapes every single cup served.
2020
Resilience and Growth Through the challenges of 2020, Mocha Beans doubles down on community. Online subscriptions launch, bringing freshly roasted Galway coffee directly to homes across Ireland.
